Editor's review
This software helps calculate thermo-physical properties of oil and derivatives. These calculations in turn help deciding design factors in storage, transportation, mixing etc. at room temperature and pressure as well as when the oil is in liquid and gas phase. these additional calculations help decide design factors in process modeling and designing.
OilProp assesses the core thermo physical properties of oil and its derivatives that help solve transportation and processing tasks. There is no need for voluminous data to asses these parameters either. The software can calculate thermo-physical properties of oil and its derivatives at room temperature, meant to be 20 degrees Celsius as also normal one atmospheric pressure level. These parameters help derive results related to hydraulic analysis of pipelines and equipment needed for storage, thermo stating, transportation, mixing, spraying homogenization of oil and its derivatives. The software can use density or the fractional composition of the components of the liquid under consideration. Fractional composition leads to more accurate results. Other data that you can derive include isobaric specific heat, thermal conductivity, kinematic viscosity, average saturated vapor pressure, surface tension, the Prandtl number, and pseudo critical temperature.
What this software can do additionally is deriving the thermo-physical properties at temperature and pressure other than room temperature and normal pressure. The results can be fed into process design of equipment handling the oil and its derivatives, aerodynamic design of pipelines, heat exchange properties etc. The program calculates the percentage of liquid and gas phases, density, isobaric heat, thermal conductivity, vaporization enthalpy, kinematic viscosity, surface tension (for the liquid phase only), and the Prandtl number. Temperature, pressure, density and fractional composition are the kind of data used in the program. The program has an intuitive interface and is compatible with Windows versions including the Windows 7. It is very specialized but useful for the application area.
